About Us

Greater Mankato Area United Way is helping to create opportunities for a better life for allWhen we reach out a hand to one, we influence the condition of all.  We all win when a child succeeds in school, when families and individuals are self-sufficient and when people have good health.  Our goal is to create lasting changes by addressing the underlying causes of problems.  We invite you to LIVE UNITEDTM and be part of the change.  It takes everyone in the community working together to create a brighter future.

There are basic things we all need for a good life: a quality education that leads to a stable job, resources to be self-sufficient and financially independent, and good health.  United Way focuses on 3 building blocks for a better life:

Education - Helping Children and Youth Achieve Their Potential
Income - Empowering People to Achieve Self-Sufficiency and Financial Independence
             Health - Improving People's Health

With the help of over 400 volunteers throughout the organization, Greater Mankato Area United Way is able to raise and invest over $1.8 million directly back to the needs in the greater Mankato area.  United Way takes the responsibility of investing contributions seriously.  Our partner agencies are held to strict accountability standards to receive funds.

              The Numbers:

      • 36 agencies and 58 partner programs receive funding
      • 1 in 3 people are directly served by a United Way funded program
      • 4.5 FTE and over 400 volunteers creating the lasting impact
      • 99 cents of every dollar stays local with over 88 cents directly invested in direct services
