About Us Greater Mankato Area United Way’s goal is to create lasting changes by addressing the underlying causes of local problems. It focuses on three building blocks for a better life: Education — Helping children and youth achieve their potential Income — Empowering people to achieve self-sufficiency and financial independence Health — Promoting people’s health and enhancing connections to health services Together with over 350 volunteers and nearly $2 million raised annually, GMAUW makes substantial contributions and investments in the greater Mankato area through its partner agencies. GMAUW Impact: § 36 agencies and 58 partner programs receive funding § 1 in 3 people are directly served by a United Way funded program § 99 cents of every dollar stays local with around 90 cents directly invested in direct services § serves a 30 mile radius including Mankato, North Mankato, Amboy, Cleveland, Eagle Lake, Good Thunder, Lake Crystal, Madison Lake and St. Clair.
